“My Walks of Art” Book
A Walking Guidebook of Dundas, Ontario.
by Danuta Niton
From a single sketch to a book filled with over 140 paintings…
“My Walks of Art” is a tribute to Dundas, a charming close-knit community where people are friendly, thoughtful and care for each other. In addition to having a rich history, Dundas has much to offer to its residents and visitors - beautiful architecture, delightful food, quaint stores, and lots of walking spaces, parks, and trails. This book is meant to appeal to people who love history, architecture, art, and walking outside - they can learn about the town while walking and admiring what it has to offer.
In 2022, Danuta (artist) and Kasia (designer) were recognized by the Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee (HMHC) and received The Art of Heritage Award for their significant contributions to the conservation of Hamilton’s heritage and their work on this book.

Inspiration for the Book…
At the start of the pandemic in March 2020, local artist Danuta Niton found herself walking along the streets of her beloved town of Dundas, discovering new neighbourhoods and noticing beautiful houses along the way. She has been sketching and producing watercolour images of the historical buildings of Dundas for the last 20 years. This time her eyes were drawn to the quiet residential homes, surrounded by mature trees, peeking through fences and offering solace and peace in uncertain times. She started sketching and posting them on social media, looking for information about their history. The stories were told, the memories were shared, people were reconnected, and the idea of a walking tour guide was born…
